Applicants for Kindergarten must be five years old by September 1st 2009.
Applicants for 1st Grade must be six years old by September 1st 2009.
Applications will be available beginning August 18th, 2008. Applications will be available online or you can call the Admissions Office to request an application. Applications requested by phone will be emailed. Once you receive the application please complete and return a hard copy with the application fee. Availability for interviews and tours is limited. We encourage you to return your application to us as soon as possible via messenger, overnight delivery or standard mail service. Personal drop-offs will also be accepted. When your application has been received, you will be contacted by The Admissions Staff to schedule a playdate, interview and tour. It is mandatory for all parents to attend all admissions interviews, tours and playdates.

The Admissions Process is a four-step process:
- A Child's Playdate/Group Parent Meeting with the Director of the Pre-School Program including Kindergarten
- Parent Interview
- Parent Tour
- Town Hall Meeting with the Head of School: "Defining Good Citizenship for our Children"
Children will take part in a playgroup with other children for half an hour. At that time, parents will participate in a parent group meeting with the Director of the Pre-School Program, including Kindergarten.
Parent Interview
On a separate date, parents will come in for a one on one meeting with an Admissions Director.
Parent Tour
Small group tours, guided by a current Mandell parent, are given Monday through Friday 8:45 and 9:30 and last approximately 40 minutes. They are scheduled by the Admissions Office.
Town Hall Meeting with the Head of School
As part of our Admissions process, the Head of School hosts several small group Q & A sessions throughout the fall. These events take place in the evening and are a wonderful opportunity for parents to hear from and to ask questions of the Head of School.
Application Requirements:
- The Mandell School requires all children to take the standardized test (ECAA) administered by the Educational Records Bureau (ERB).
- School Report. Please submit the School Records Release form directly to your child's present school. All reports are confidential.
