Due to low staffing and a tight budget the Bloomingdale library cut the "Toddler Time!" reading program. Mandell staff volunteer to provide the extra help the children's librarian needs to run this program. As a result, "Toddler Time!" was reinstated in October 2008 and continues bi-weekly today. During the school year, Mandell parents also volunteer every week to shelve books or help out in any way needed in the Children's Library. This past year we also sponsored a story time/arts and crafts event at the Bloomingdale library coordinated by Mandell parents. On February 12th Mandell parents lead story time and a craft session for neighborhood children that featured the book "The Kissing Hand" by Audrey Penn, a story about love in celebration of Valentine's Day.
