Story Time and End of Day

After snack, the children come back together to hear a book read by one of the teachers. Teachers begin the year reading very short books and by the end of the year are reading fairly complex storybooks, and asking the children to comment on them.
After story, it is time to get dressed for dismissal. Our children learn self-help skills as they begin to dress themselves for the weather outside. After the children are dressed and sitting around the tables, the teachers count them one by one.  This is repeated every day, and enhances both the children’s knowledge of numbers and the mathematical concept of one-to-one correspondence – one number goes with one thing. This is also a time to play group memory games.
At the end of the day, parents and caregivers are invited into the classroom to pick up their children. If anyone other than the regular person is picking up a child, a note must be given to the teachers at drop-off.
Everyone picking up a child must have a Mandell ID card.
