5th - 8th Grade
5th-8th grade classes are housed in our 60,000 square foot facility at 795 Columbus Avenue, on the Upper West Side. This facility includes a black box theater, gymnasium, cafeteria, innovative classrooms, science and hydroponics lab and 10,000 square foot Library and Research Center.
In keeping with our tradition of academic excellence, our 5th through 8th grades include work in Applied Sciences, English and Creative Writing, Social/Community Studies and Advanced Mathematics. Depending on the student's experience prior to entering Mandell, they will study either French or Spanish and begin the study of Mandarin.
In addition, the children's academic program includes Dramatic Studies, Music Theory, Stringed Instrument Study, Fine Arts and Graphic Arts. The Physical Education program combines individual fitness programs for each child to help them "grow" into their teenage bodies as well as rotating team sports so that they are prepared to participate in interschool sports in 7th and 8th grades.

Applicant Interview The applicant will take part in an interview with members of our Admissions staff. At this time parents will have a group meeting with the Head of School. Parent Interview Parents will have a one on one interview with members of our Admissions staff. A School Records Please submit the School Records Release form directly to your child's present school. All reports are confidential.
