For the Toddler program, children must be 2 years old by September 1st of the year they begin school.
For the Nursery program, children must be 3 years old by September 1st of the year they begin school.
For Pre Kindergarten program, children must be 4 years old by September 1st of the year they begin school.
Availability for interviews and tours is limited. We encourage you to return your application to us as soon as possible via messenger, overnight delivery or standard mail service. Personal drop-offs will also be accepted. When your application has been received, you will be contacted by the Admissions staff to schedule a play date, interview and tour.
NOTE:
Parents may not come in person to obtain an application. A limited number of interview spots are available. RECEIPT OF AN APPLICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE AN INTERVIEW SPOT. THOSE SPOTS ARE ALLOCATED ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS.
Child Play Date, Tours Parent Interview and Open Houses
Once your application has been received and processed by our Admissions Office, you will be contacted by a member of our Admissions staff to schedule your parent tour, parent interview and child play date, which will take place between October and January. You will receive three separate dates: one for a tour, parent interview and one for your child play date. Both parents are required to attend the parent tour and interview and one parent and child are required to attend the child play date. This does not apply, of course, to single parents.
Child Play Date
Children will participate in group activities with classroom teachers and other children for half an hour. One parent is required to accompany a child to the play date. Caregivers or other family members may not attend the play date.
Parent Tour
Small group tours, guided by a current Mandell parent, are given Monday through Friday. Tours for the Toddler Divisions are given at 9:00 and 10:00 and last approximately 40 minutes. Tours for the Pre School Division are given at 8:45 and 9:30 and last approximately 30 minutes. These tours are for parents only.
Parent Interview
For the interview, parents will meet one-on-one with a member of The Mandell Staff for approximately half an hour. This is a time to ask questions and learn about The Mandell School. It is mandatory that both parents attend the interview. This does not apply, of course, to single parents.
Open Houses
As part of our Admissions process, we hold Open Houses for all applicant families. You will receive an invitation to the Open House in the fall. These events take place in the evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and are a wonderful way to get to know the faculty, staff and parents of The Mandell School Community. Open Houses are for parents only.
Cancellations Our policy is to reschedule play date / tours only for child illness or injury. For other cancellations the applicant will be placed on a waitlist until the end of the process, in the event that a play date /tour opens up. Please note that we will not conduct a tour if both parents are not present. This does not apply, of course, to single parents. In addition, a child may not participate in a play date unless one parent is present.
