Part-time Head Teacher - Pre School
 
The Pre School division seeks to hire an experienced Head Toddler teacher for our 2’s class. This is a part-time position, hours 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
 
Main responsibilities:
  • The Head Teacher is responsible for creating and implementing a warm, safe environment for children who are entering their first school experience.
Qualifications:
  • A qualified candidate must have a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and possess teaching experience in a 2’s classroom.

Science Teacher - Elementary
 
The Mandell School is seeking an experienced science educator to oversee the Junior Kindergarten through Fourth Grade Science program.
 
Main responsibilities:
  • Teaching Junior Kindergarten through Fourth Grade. Plan for differentiated curricular progression to meet the needs of each individual learner. 
  • Working with classroom teachers to devise and support the integration of science into other areas of school life.
  • Responsible for hands-on science experiences, including the joint management of the science room.
  • Managing the variety of materials and resources children use to explore, manipulate and enhance learning activities.
  • Planning and conducting activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration and hands-on experiences allowing children to observe, question and investigate.
  • Observing and evaluating students' progress and preparing for parent conferences and narrative reports as required.
Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching science to elementary-aged students.
  • A qualified candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in the Sciences and a Master's Degree in Education.
  • The capability to utilize a variety of teaching methodologies.
  • Technological competence, coupled with a commitment to the integration of technology in the  curriculum.

French Teacher - Elementary
 
The Mandell School's Elementary Division seeks to hire an experienced French teacher for grades Junior Kindergarten through Grade 4.  Our emphasis involves utilizing developmentally appropriate teaching methods that recognizes the strengths and needs of each age group. Methods may vary, but all teaching at Mandell involves active learning, collaboration and differentiation.
 
Qualifications:
  • Strong academic preparation, coupled with a Master's Degree in Education preferred.
  • Understanding of, and preferably living experience in, a French speaking culture. A native speaker is a plus.
  • Strong written skills in French and English.
  • Ability to integrate movement, music etc. with more formal French instruction.
  • Classroom management skills that are age appropriate.
  • A demonstrated love of elementary age children.

Head Teacher  - Elementary
Main Responsibilities:

  • The Head Teacher is responsible for creating and implementing a learning environment that is developmentally based and carries forward the mission, philosophy and practices of the Mandell. 
  • Prepare classroom materials, daily classroom set up, conduct parent/teacher conferences as well as attend all faculty and enrollment management functions.
  • The Head Teacher will mentor and work closely with his/her associate teacher.  
Qualifications:
  • A qualified candidate must have earned a Master's degree and possess considerable teaching experience in elementary classrooms. 
  • The successful candidate will not only have a history of successful and innovative teaching, but also will be committed to participating in a highly collaborative environment that values cross-disciplinary instruction.
  • The candidate’s working knowledge of current pedagogical theory and practice will also be taken into consideration when reviewing resumes.
  • Candidates should evidence a commitment to professional growth and development.

School Librarian – Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8

Position Goals:

 
To collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to design and implement lessons and units of instruction; to provide the leadership and expertise necessary to ensure that the school library program is aligned and integrated with the school curricula; to collaborate with colleagues so that students and staff become effective users of ideas and information; to help students to become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information; to play a role in instilling a love of learning and literature in all students and to promote equitable access to information for all library users.
 
Administrative Responsibilities:
 
The school librarian creates a teaching and learning environment that is inviting, safe, flexible and conducive to active and participatory student learning. He/she serves as an advocate for the school library program and its resources. The school librarian shares his/her expertise at faculty meetings or parent meetings and collaborates with faculty and staff to develop up-to-date policies and procedures concerning issues such as materials selection, circulation, reconsideration of materials, copyright, privacy, and acceptable use. He/she also maintains active memberships in professional associations and remains current in professional practices and information technologies.

The school librarian prepares and administers the school library program budget to support the goals of the program. He/she recruits and trains parent volunteers to assist with two school-wide book fairs to raise funds for the library collection budget and to perform some collection maintenance functions. The school librarian maintains frequent and timely communication with faculty, students and parents through the school and library website, parent newsletter, e-mail, and other formats about library programs and is responsible for the smooth daily operations of the library.

As Mandell’s information specialist, the school librarian provides leadership and expertise in the selection, acquisition, evaluation, and organization of information resources and technologies in all formats, as well as expertise in the ethical use of information.

Instructional Partner and Teacher:
 
As an instructional partner, the school librarian works with teachers to build and strengthen connections between student information and research needs, curricular content, learning outcomes, and information resources. The school librarian participates in collaboratively planned learning experiences by providing group and individual instruction and evaluating and reflecting on those lessons. The librarian also joins with teachers and specialists to plan and implements meaningful experiences that will promote a love of reading and lifelong learning. As a teacher, the school librarian partners with faculty to empower students to become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.

Qualifications:
  • A Master’s degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association

ASSOCIATE/ASSISTANT TEACHER – PRESCHOOL

Mandell’s academic program is developmentally based and honors the concept of differentiation. The Associate Teacher will also assist in the assessment of children in order to establish individualized goals and teaching strategies.

An ability to work collaboratively as a part of a teaching team is necessary. The Associate Teacher will also be responsible for providing individualized and small group instruction, managing the class during times when the Head Teacher is not in the room, preparing classroom materials, assisting with daily classroom setup, attending parent/teacher conferences, as well as attending all other teacher functions such as divisional and all-school faculty meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree and provide evidence of interest in the field of education and working with pre-school aged children. A desire to pursue a Master's Degree, if not already earned, is also important.
